Once upon a time, in a dusty museum, there was a mummy named Manny. Manny was a very old mummy, so old that his bandages were starting to unravel. He looked like a giant, brown, fuzzy caterpillar! Manny was very embarrassed about his messy appearance. He wished he could be as neat and tidy as the statues in the museum. One day, a group of children came to visit the museum. They were giggling and pointing at Manny, making him feel even more embarrassed. «Oh, dear!» he sighed. «I wish I could fix myself!» Just then, a little girl dropped her roll of tape. Manny’s eyes lit up like bright stars. «Maybe this will help!» he thought. Manny carefully picked up the tape and started to stick it back on his bandages. He was so focused on his makeover that he didn’t notice the children watching him. He stuck the tape everywhere – on his head, his arms, even his toes! He thought he looked wonderful! But, the children were laughing. «Look at that mummy! He’s stuck a tape all over himself!» they cried. Manny was so surprised! He couldn’t believe they didn’t like his new look. He wanted to be neat and tidy, but he was even messier than before! He hung his head sadly, wishing he could just stay in his dusty tomb. The children, realizing their laughter had hurt Manny, felt bad. One little girl walked over and helped Manny peel off the tape. They all worked together to neatly rewrap Manny, and even helped him to tidy up the museum. Manny was so happy! He learned that sometimes, being messy is okay, and that even the biggest mess can be cleaned up with a little help from friends. Manny was so grateful to the children. He learned that sometimes, being different was okay. He started to embrace his unique, unraveling self. From that day on, Manny was no longer embarrassed about his messy appearance. He was happy to be the most unique and lovable mummy in the museum! What was Manny’s problem? Why did Manny want to use the tape? What did Manny learn at the end of the story?
